Elevator Etiquette. The most important part you ask? Is not letting dogs rush the door. This is extremely rude and dangerous if you allow this behaviour and puts your dog, other people and other dogs in a bad position. Always maintain control around the doorway and when moving through. No one wants to be rushed by a dog dragging their owner behind them. There are those who are scared of dogs or not fond of dogs, young children, elderly and other dogs that deserve respect when riding the elevator. Don’t be an elevator menace with your dog.
Side note: we got rushed one day and it’s not fun. Big, intense dog pulling owner through the doors, owner saying he just wants to play, “he’s friendly” 🙄, staring and barking at the snack size dog beside me. Sorry, mine wants yours to f*ck off, as he was extremely uncomfortable with the intensity of the other dog. This is not how you want to enter a small space with another dog in it, especially because others might be trying to leave the elevator. Don’t be that guy, don’t be an elevator dick.
Happy training!
